Photo David Beriss.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The time has come to plan and submit sessions for the 2025 American Anthropology Association Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana! The meeting will take place from November 19-23, 2025, and this year\u2019s theme is <strong>Ghosts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Our AAA Program Committee and Executive Board are excited to put together a great program for our members, but we need your help. Please begin organizing your oral presentation sessions, roundtables, conversation sessions, interviews, and podcasts! <a href=\"https:\/\/annualmeeting.americananthro.org\/submissions\/types\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Here is a description of submission types.<\/a> The submissions portal opens on Wednesday, March 5th. Submitters will have until <strong>Wednesday, April 16th<\/strong> to finalize and submit their proposals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Like last year (but unlike in years past), AAA will only accept proposals for fully formed sessions, panels, and roundtables, not individual papers. <\/strong>We encourage you to take advantage of the <a href=\"https:\/\/my.americananthro.org\/community\/s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AAA Communities<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/foodanthro.com\/foodanthro-l-listserv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SAFN listserv<\/a> to organize a session or find a session for your individual contributions. To help facilitate you in putting together a session, SAFN is organizing a<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1JlCIKBGhYacvoGHykqKEXUh2dV07yynTyAQd_Qg3BeQ\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Google Doc<\/a> where you can submit panel ideas and paper topics and network with fellow presenters. Feel free to add your individual paper topic\/abstract under any panel in the Google Doc that looks like it might be a good fit. Please don\u2019t hesitate to email us (Program Committee Chairs) if you have any questions or would like help brainstorming panel topics or connecting with other interested members! Please note that once you have formed a panel, you will need to submit it yourself using the AAA portal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Invited and Co-Sponsored Sessions: SAFN is able to sponsor or co-sponsor a small number of sessions which will be highlighted in the conference program. We have frequently co-sponsored sessions with related sections of the AAA such as Culture and Agriculture. We would welcome any suggestions you have for co-sponsorships, as these tend to increase the audience size and diversity of interests.<\/p>\n<p>As a reminder, you will need to be a member of AAA and register for the meeting to present at the Annual Meeting. Also, individuals can only have one major (Presenter) role plus one secondary (Discussant) role per meeting. There are no limits on minor roles (Organizer\/Chair). Submission details can be found on the AAA meeting website\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/annualmeeting.americananthro.org\/faqs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Submission FAQs<\/a>\u2014 but please feel free to reach out to us if you have questions.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s come together to create a vibrant and engaging program for the 2025 AAA Annual Meeting!
