If you\u2019ve found that your iPhone can\u2019t help but call the United States president a racist, you might be pleased to learn that Apple is working to stop that from happening.<\/p>\n
The issue cropped up when multiple iPhone owners noticed that a pronunciation processing problem caused the word \u201cTrump\u201d to be transposed with the word \u2018racist\u2019 when using the dictation feature in the Messages app.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, MacRumors<\/a> reports that the issue also appears to occur in reverse as well \u2014 \u201cracist\u201d sometimes appeared to be heard as \u201cTrump.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Speaking the word racist with dictation doesn\u2019t always show \u201cTrump\u201d first, though it did show up more often than other words in our testing. We also saw \u201cRhett\u201d and \u201cRouch\u201d appear before the \u200ciPhone\u200c corrects to racist.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Videos showing the bug in action have, understandably, spread like wildfire on social networks but an Apple spokesperson reportedly told The New York Times that the problem was due to an overlap in the phonetics used when speaking the two words. It\u2019s unknown how long the issue has been around, but Apple has said that it is currently working on a fix.<\/p>\n It also hasn\u2019t been confirmed how long we can expect this to take to fix, or if a software update will be needed. However, it\u2019s another black eye for Apple following recent issues surrounding its Apple Intelligence features.
