He\u2019s currently detained in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as his lawyers\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2024\/09\/13\/sam-bankman-fried-appeals-fraud-conviction-requests-new-trial-nyt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">work through an appeal<\/a>\u00a0of his conviction. Still, his account on X (formerly Twitter), operated by people he befriended, posted a 10-tweet thread about layoffs, seemingly referencing Elon Musk\u2019s push to have federal employees email their work activities from the past week or risk resignations.<\/p><div class=\"g g-1\"><div class=\"g-single a-6\"><a class=\"gofollow\" data-track=\"NiwxLDEsNjA=\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dontgetpushedaround.com\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"850\" height=\"500\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.activistpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/AP-AffiliateAd-850x500-LegalShield-1.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have a lot of sympathy for [government] employees: I, too, have not checked my email for the past few (hundred) days,\u201d\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SBF_FTX\/status\/1894204086754709951\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">his thread began<\/a>. FTT, the token associated with FTX, briefly spiked from roughly $1.55 to $2.07 after his tweets before falling back to around $1.78, according to\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/ftx-token\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CoinGecko<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">2) Firing people is one of the hardest things to do in the world. It sucks for everyone involved.<\/p><p>My experience:<br\/>a) it is usually not the employee\u2019s fault that they got fired<br\/>b) it is usually correct to let them go anyway<\/p>\u2014 SBF (@SBF_FTX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SBF_FTX\/status\/1894204089304568020?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 25, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Sam Bankman-Fried does not have direct access to sites like X or email, but can send messages through the Corrlinks system, which lets prisoners in the U.S. communicate with others, a person familiar confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was not immediately clear who might be posting the tweets on Bankman-Fried\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/musk-trump-federal-workers-firings-email-9785e7f74eb2a8b8fde5e01ff0c7717f\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Over the weekend<\/a>, Musk, who according to court documents is a special government employee, tweeted that federal employees would have to tell the Office of Personnel and Management what they did last week, with a non-response being considered a resignation. While some federal agency heads or other leaders told their employees not to respond, others said their employees should reply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s another step in Musk\u2019s efforts to lay off broad swaths of the federal workforce at the behest of U.S. President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sam Bankman-Fried\u2019s tweets referenced layoffs and detailed circumstances that might cause an employer to fire employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-2 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">5) Maybe we just didn\u2019t really have anyone free to manage them right then. Maybe they worked best remotely, but our company communicated in-person. It isn\u2019t their fault if their employer doesn\u2019t really know what to do with them, or doesn\u2019t really have anyone to effectively manage them. It isn\u2019t their fault if internal politics lead their department to lose its way,\u201d\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SBF_FTX\/status\/1894204104873758981\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the thread said<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After Bankman-Fried\u2019s tweets,\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SBF_DOGE\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">another X account<\/a>\u00a0claiming without evidence to be him linked a contract address, claiming he received a pardon from Trump and now works for DOGE, the government entity that may or may not be led by Elon Musk. The linked token saw some immediate trading volume, according to\u00a0<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dextools.io\/app\/en\/solana\/pair-explorer\/GgQf4SLJ9pHLgo7E4t1LKo6omXTy2qoTrdYvCnK2Pjd8?t=1740456132182\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on-chain data<\/a>.
