Richly evocative.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"241\" style=\"position: relative; display: block; width: 640px; height: 241px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/v=2\/album=2310880616\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/artwork=small\/\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u25b0 I always keep my eye on what\u2019s new from a synthesizer module maker called <strong>Djupviks<\/strong>. A module called the Bunker Archeology, which I have, takes the source audio here and \u201csmears it all up,\u201d per the description. No doubt. It\u2019s like the <em>Blade Runner<\/em> vibe filtered through a rougher industrial aesthetic. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Djupviks Modules \/\/ Cosmos \/\/ Sl\u00f6er \/\/ SH-101\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TvI22cudXEA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u25b0\u00a0Archival recommendation: I picked up this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dgmlive.com\/tour-dates\/1693?artist=2&amp;year=1981&amp;download=on&amp;liveshow=on&amp;fbclid=IwY2xjawIkPTRleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHYfo6LTp4wmo6nv7XDJhnUAlXxC3by8TXDpponX6vk39K7L7MWkOI1Dt1g_aem_96R4oLfX4kUkckIpzvDlqg\">live 1981 <strong>Robert Fripp<\/strong> solo Frippertronics set<\/a> (use that link, as there is no embeddable player) based on a recommendation from John Diliberto, host of the <a href=\"https:\/\/echoes.org\/\">Echoes<\/a> radio show. It\u2019s really great, very simple, austere even by Fripp standards, maybe even more musical than atmospheric. You can hear the loops as they accrue, the seams as he stitches and layers. Bonus points for the bit of conversation with Joe Strummer (yeah, of the Clash) in the liner notes.\u00a0(And if that interview is of interest, here\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elephant-talk.com\/wiki\/Interview_with_Robert_Fripp_and_Joe_Strummer_in_Musician\">the full text<\/a>. The conversation was moderated by Vic Garbarini, and originally published in the June 1981 issue of <em>Musician<\/em> magazine. Here\u2019s a great snippet: Strummer: \u201cNow, I\u2019m not a born musician like maybe Robert is\u2026\u201d Fripp: \u201cNot at all! I was tone deaf and had no sense of rhythm\u2026\u201d Strummer: \u201c\u2026 I got kicked out of the choir\u2026\u201d Fripp: \u201c\u2026they wouldn\u2019t even let me <em>join<\/em> the choir!\u201d) <\/p>\n<p>\u25b0\u00a0Somewhat less archival recommendation: here\u2019s a saxophone foursome, <strong>Multiphonic Quartett<\/strong>, performing a piece (\u201cMishima\/Closing,\u201d originally written for Kronos) from <strong>Philip Glass<\/strong>\u2019 score for Paul Schrader\u2019s film <em>Mishima<\/em>, shot in a massive concrete industrial space. (This video is the source of the \u201cradicalization\u201d joke I <a href=\"https:\/\/disquiet.com\/2025\/02\/22\/scratch-pad-ev-theremin-doom\/\">posted here yesterday<\/a>.) The video is from roughly three years ago. (And a side note for those chasing virality: despite this video having over 200,000 views, the group\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/multiphonicquartet\/\">Instagram account<\/a> has well under 600 followers, and its YouTube channel a mere 1,500 subscribers.)<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Philip Glass -
