{"id":105625,"date":"2025-02-23T18:31:54","date_gmt":"2025-02-23T18:31:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/business\/legal\/ca-labor-commissioner-issues-new-whistleblower-notice\/"},"modified":"2025-02-23T18:31:54","modified_gmt":"2025-02-23T18:31:54","slug":"ca-labor-commissioner-issues-new-whistleblower-notice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=105625","title":{"rendered":"CA Labor Commissioner Issues New Whistleblower Notice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Under California law, employers are prohibited from making, adopting, or enforcing policies that prevent an employee from disclosing violations of a state or federal statute, or a violation or noncompliance with a local, state, or federal regulation to, among others, a government or law enforcement agency.\u00a0 The law also prohibits employers from retaliating against an employee who makes such a disclosure.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-5538\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Pursuant to California Assembly Bill 2299 signed by the Governor on July 15, 2024, the CA Labor Commission was instructed to develop an updated model notice of employees\u2019 rights and responsibilities under California\u2019s whistleblower laws.<\/p>\n<p>The Labor Commissioner\u2019s Office has recently issued its model whistleblower notice entitled \u201c<em>Whistleblowers Are Protected<\/em>\u201d for employers to use. It explains who is protected under the law; what constitutes \u201cwhistleblowing;\u201d what protections are afforded to a whistleblower; and how to make a report to the CA Attorney General\u2019s Whistleblower Hotline.
