Every few minutes, a recorded voice promises someone will be with you soon \u2013 but \u201csoon\u201d never seems to come. When you<em> finally <\/em>get through, you\u2019re passed from one department to another, each time explaining your problem from scratch.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the clock\u2019s ticking, and you\u2019re losing valuable time. Time you could be spending on the road, earning money and getting jobs done.<\/p>\n<p>Sound familiar? For many van drivers and business owners, this frustrating scenario is all too common. It\u2019s a perfect example of<strong> how poor customer service isn\u2019t just annoying \u2013 it\u2019s costly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s the problem?<\/h2>\n<p>Customer service standards didn\u2019t just drop overnight \u2013 it\u2019s been caused by a mix of problems. Yes, Covid-19 was a big trigger, bringing staff shortages, supply chain issues, and a sudden shift to remote working, all made things worse. But that was five years ago. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Blaming the pandemic feels like an old excuse<\/strong> \u2013 it\u2019s one your own clients surely don\u2019t put up with. So <em>why should you?<\/em><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The most common customer service complaints: <\/h3>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Waiting a long time on hold<\/li>\n<li>Passed between departments without a helpful response<\/li>\n<li>Call disconnecting without explanation\/resolution<\/li>\n<li>AI chatbots giving unhelpful answers<\/li>\n<li>Unable to find company\u2019s contact information<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much time is wasted?<\/h2>\n<p>Ever wondered how much time you actually waste on hold? We\u2019ve done the math!<\/p>\n<p>Taxpayers spent <strong>seven million hours<\/strong> on hold to HMRC in 2022-23, which works out to a staggering <strong>798 years<\/strong>. Energy and broadband customers also spent <strong>over 27 million hours last year working out customer service issues<\/strong>. Which? estimates that the average person wasted two hours of their time on energy customer service issues and over 90 minutes on broadband complaints.<\/p>\n<p>Banking is another problem sector: In the first half of 2024 alone, <strong>consumers lodged 101,031 banking and credit complaints<\/strong>, including disputes about credit cards and unaffordable lending, car finance woes, as well as fraud and scams.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Making insurance easier<\/h2>\n<p>As a business owner, your time is money. You can\u2019t afford to sit on hold endlessly if that means missing out on earnings. And why should you have to?<\/p>\n<p>Even online insurance renewal can be frustrating. It\u2019s not always clear what\u2019s covered, or what you need (and don\u2019t need). You end up trying to compare multiple policies at once, unclear on what you should be looking for. If you\u2019re busy, it\u2019s easy to get distracted and just pick the first cheap and cheerful option you can find. But these often don\u2019t mean good value. In fact, you could be paying for a policy that doesn\u2019t properly cover you and <strong>will cost you more in the long run.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why use a broker?<\/h2>\n<p>Remember that nightmare scenario from the start of this blog? Whether that\u2019s your next job, or something at home, you\u2019ve got that <strong>time back to work on what really matters.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Then, you can expect to hear back from your own insurance expert, a few hours later.
