But I am a fan of events that have an exciting atmosphere. So this was how I was enticed into the away end at one of the biggest matches in Scandinavia.  <\/p>\n<p>When Stockholm\u2019s cross-town rivals Djurg\u00e5rden and AIK play it is called the Tvillingderbyt, \u201cThe Twin Derby\u201d. Both clubs were founded in Stockholm in 1891, just three weeks apart. This football fixture was being played at AIK\u2019s ground, The Friends Arena. <\/p>\n<p>My husband had a spare ticket for the match and promised me that it would be an experience I would never forget. As we were supporting Djurg\u00e5rden we would be in the away end.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover aligncenter is-light\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-background-dim\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"564\" height=\"326\" class=\"wp-block-cover__image-background wp-image-12536\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/travelswithmyart.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-09-05.04.08.png\" data-object-fit=\"cover\" srcset=\"https:\/\/travelswithmyart.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-09-05.04.08.png 564w, https:\/\/travelswithmyart.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-09-05.04.08-300x173.png 300w, https:\/\/travelswithmyart.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Screenshot-2022-05-09-05.04.08-508x294.png 508w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 564px) 100vw, 564px\"\/><\/div>\n<p>It was important I was wearing the right colours, so I donned obligatory dark blue and light blue Djurg\u00e5rden football scarf and shirt. <\/p>\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"> Joining members of the supporters club at Odenplan<\/h4>\n<p>I will be honest, it was a bit of a shock when we arrived at Odenplan to meet up with members of  J\u00e4rnkaminerna, the Djurg\u00e5rden supporters club. Roads had been closed, there was a high police presence and there were hundreds of fans singing, shouting, chanting and lighting flares. One guy in a hoodie and balaclava had climbed up onto the top of the traffic lights and was leading chants through a loud speaker. The atmosphere was great, but it was more like a political rally. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Walking through Odenplan before the Djurg\u00e5den v AIK derby\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ejruv_rR5js?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Fans jumping up and down on the packed train<\/h4>\n<p>The fans were waiting to be transported to Solna\u2019s friends Arena by trains which are put on only for the Djurd\u00e5rden fans. At one o\u2019clock exactly the police started to move the fans down to the tunnelbana. It did look like a sea of football hooligans, but because it had been well organized by the police, people were calm and there did not seem to be any \u2018edge\u2019.  <\/p>\n<p>Odenplan tunnelbana was now rammed with fans who were being put on the designated trains. I had become familiar with many of the chants, but there was another one which they saved for the busy train: <\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>\u201cAll som inte hoppa \u00e4r ett gnaget gris\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Roughly translated this means \u2018<em>all who do not jump are a rodent pig<\/em>\u2018. A seamlessly innocent song, but when you are packed like sardines in a tin on a train and people start singing it, it becomes little unnerving. Everyone shouts, chants, jumps and bangs on the walls and the ceilings.  Thank god it was only one stop to Solna.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Stockholm football fans before the derby between AIK and Djurg\u00e5rdens IF.\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/51Jw61UFaYw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">The Match<\/h4>\n<p>The atmosphere in the stadium in the lead up to kick off was amazing, with huge club flags everywhere and flares being set off left, right and centre. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Stockholm football derby between cross-town rivals AIK and Djurg\u00e5rdens IF.\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oW98jaMfx5I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>As I said earlier, I\u2019m not a football fan, so the actual game was not as much fun as the lead up and pre-match banter. Also for me to write a review of the match would be cringeworthy at best. Full time score was 1-0 to AIK, although from what I saw Djurg\u00e5rden had more possession and shots on goal. I wish I\u2019d have seen Djurg\u00e5rden score, as I know the away end would have exploded.
