Full review of the truck at <a href=\"https:\/\/autowise.com\/2020-toyota-tacoma-trd-pro-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AutoWise.com<\/a>. Also, the whole trip was shot on the <a href=\"https:\/\/gopro.com\/en\/us\/shop\/cameras\/hero8-black\/CHDHX-801-master.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GoPro Hero 8 Black<\/a> camera. Now that GoPro cameras are waterproof (to 33 feet) gone are the days of keeping the camera in a waterproof case that inhibits the audio. There is a wind noise reducing function, and it worked somewhat, but clearly it still needs some work (and that\u2019s no small feat).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tarpestry.com\/\">Tarpestry<\/a> \u2014 This is a rugged and durable cover that we usually have as our de facto welcome matt when camping and makes it on most non-backpacking trips\u2014it\u2019s a little heavy for that. On this river trip, you\u2019ll also see it used to cover up during the rain storm that hit while we were floating along.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msrgear.com\/tents\/all-season-tents\/front-range-4-person-ultralight-tarp-shelter\/13119.html\">MSR Front Range Tarp Shelter<\/a> w. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msrgear.com\/tents\/all-season-tents\/front-range-bugfloor-insert\/13120.html\">Bug\/Floor Insert <\/a>\u2014 As a family of four, I usually size up to at least a 6-person tent for our adventures. But for this trip, because we were striking and setting camp each day, I wanted something that was fast and easy. This tent only has one pole and it doesn\u2019t have to go through any sleeves or get clips connected. The time consuming part is in getting the stakes set\u2014eight of them if you have the bug insert and tarp in play. More details in the video.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mustangsurvival.com\/collections\/waterproof-dry-bags\/products\/new-highwater-60l-waterproof-gear-hauler\">Mustang Highwater 60L Waterproof Gear Hauler<\/a> \u2014 We actually had a few dry bags from Mustang and they all worked great. This is the one seen, briefly, in the video. We had two of these and they held everything for our lodging: tent, pads, pillows, sleeping bags, and stuffed animals. The backpack straps were great for hauling the two of them further onshore when that was warranted. It includes a 20L non-dry storage section for, as their website says, well-worn, gear\u2014but it\u2019s also one extra layer to get through. We also had a few of the <a href=\"https:\/\/mustangsurvival.com\/collections\/waterproof-dry-bags\">Bluewater Rolltop Dry Bags<\/a> of various sizes for smaller items.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/offyonder.com\/2010\/09\/review-or-lateral-dry-bags\/\">MSR Dry Bag<\/a> \u2014 This product does not exist anymore because MSR is now under the same ownership as SeaLine. I\u2019ve had it for years. I got it for my <a href=\"https:\/\/offyonder.com\/2010\/06\/arctic-rafting\/\">Kongakut river trip<\/a> and loved the lateral access to make it easier to get what I was looking for.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kelty.com\/kids-sleeping-bags\/\">Kelty Woobie 30<\/a> \u2014 This bag isn\u2019t in production any more, it\u2019s now the Mistral 30. We love having a zipper on each side and with as warm as it was on this trip, we left both sides unzipped for Rey to sleep in\u2014it felt more like a blanket than a sleeping bag. What we don\u2019t like about this bag is how bulky it is. How does the sleeping bag for the smallest person on the trip only pack down to twice the size of any of the adult bags? Answer: the inexpensive bulky insulation used.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thermarest.com\/sleeping-pads\/fast-and-light\/z-lite-sol-sleeping-pad\/z-lite-sol.html\">Therm-a-Rest Z-Lite Sol<\/a> \u2014 A classic. A great pad for beginners and seasoned adventurers alike. They\u2019re as un-bulky as a foam pad can be, but they will never puncture and always work.<\/p>\n<p>Marmot Atom \u2014 Also no longer available, I\u2019ve had this one a while, but there are some other great <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rei.com\/c\/mens-sleeping-bags?ir=category%3Amens-sleeping-bags&amp;r=c%3Btemperature-rating-f%3A40+and+above\">options out there<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/seatosummitusa.com\/collections\/sleeping-bag-liners\/products\/adaptor-coolmax-liner\">Sea to Summit Adapter Coolmax Sleeping Bag Liner<\/a> \u2014 A must have for any summer\/warm weather camping trips.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thermarest.com\/sleeping-pads\/trek-and-travel\/ridgerest-classic-sleeping-pad\/ridgerest-classic.html\">Therm-a-Rest Ridgerest<\/a> \u2014 I\u2019ve had this pad for decades. Bomber, nostalgic, and I don\u2019t slip off of it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thermarest.com\/sleeping-bags-and-quilts\/fast-and-light\/space-cowboy-45f7c-sleeping-bag\/space-cowboy-45.html\">Therm-a-Rest Space Cowboy 45<\/a> \u2014 Great lightweight warm weather synthetic bag.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thermarest.com\/pillows\/foam-pillows\/compressible-pillow\/compressible-pillow.html\">Therm-a-Rest Compressible Pillows<\/a> \u2014 Comfortable and they pack down small.<\/p>\n<p>Nemo Punk Kid\u2019s Sleeping Bag \u2014 Also no longer on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nemoequipment.com\/product-category\/sleeping-bags\/?_sft_pa_best-use=camping\">Nemo\u2019s website<\/a>, which is a shame. Rosie loves hers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rei.com\/product\/157891\/rei-co-op-flash-3-season-sleeping-pad\">REI Co-op Flash 3-season Sleeping Pad<\/a> \u2014 Not our first choice for the kids to sleep on, but it\u2019s what we had. Still, a great lightweight inflatable pad.<\/p>\n<p>Gerber Freescape Camp Kitchen Kit \u2014 Also, discontinued. We\u2019re trying to get more info from Gerber on why and if it will come back. I reviewed some other options like this for <a href=\"https:\/\/gearjunkie.com\/best-knife-kits-camping-cooking\">Gear Junkie<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrs.com\/product\/40009.04\/nrs-chinook-fishing-pfd\">NRS Chinook Fishing PFD<\/a> \u2014 Anglers get all of the pockets and that\u2019s why I wanted this vest. When I\u2019m at the oars and Jordan is managing the kids, the last thing she needs is for me to ask her to do something for me. The pockets really help with that. I mention in the video being bummed about how the knife handle overlaps with the corner of the pocket below it. It turns out if the knife is flipped over, that doesn\u2019t happen. But I don\u2019t like the grab motion for the knife in that configuration.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrs.com\/product\/47301.02\/nrs-titanium-pilot-knife\">NRS Titanium Pilot Knife<\/a> \u2014 This knife in the titanium version is overkill for the river. It\u2019s designed to repel corrosion in salt water environments. But it works for fresh water and is lighter. It\u2019s also $100 more than the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrs.com\/product\/47300.02\/nrs-pilot-knife\">stainless steel version<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron\u2019s Kit \u2014 Patagonia Kit for Cameron \u2014 The Patagonia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patagonia.com\/product\/mens-long-sleeved-sol-patrol-ii-shirt\/54254.html\">Sol Patrol II Shirt <\/a>is lightweight, airy, and hosts a number of features to help keep the sun off of my skin. The Patagonia\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patagonia.com\/product\/mens-stretch-wavefarer-boardshorts-21-inch\/86543.html\">21\u201d Wavefarer Boardshorts<\/a> were so comfortable I wore them the entire time I was rowing. I used a wet towel to cover my knees when I needed extra sun protection. Only once or twice did I throw on the Patagonia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patagonia.com\/product\/mens-guidewater-ii-pants-long\/82105.html\">Guidewater II Pants<\/a> in the evening to ward off some bugs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mustangsurvival.com\/collections\/kids-pfds\/products\/lil-legends-kids-vest-mv3555\">Mustang Survival Lil Legends Kid\u2019s PFD<\/a> \u2014 Both kids were in this vest. As mentioned in the video, the one downfall on a multi-day trip like this is how the vest rides up when the kids are in the water and chafes against their chins. A patch of softer material would help.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ushood.com\/collections\/product\/products\/youth-liteside-shirt\">Ushood Youth Liteside Sun Shirt<\/a> \u2014 This was one of Rosie\u2019s favorite tops for the trip. She really liked the hood and ninja style mask. We loved that it helped protect her neck and arms from the sun. <a href=\"https:\/\/ushood.com\/collections\/product\/products\/adult-liteside-shirt\">Adult versions<\/a> are also available.<\/p>\n<p>Patagonia Kit for the kids \u2014 Rosie wore the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patagonia.com\/product\/girls-foxglenn-joggers\/66690.html\">Foxglenn Jogger Pants<\/a> when she wasn\u2019t in and out of the water. But because they\u2019re thin and quick drying they would be totally fine going in the river. Rey\u2019s blue <a href=\"https:\/\/www.patagonia.com\/product\/baby-capilene-cool-daily-sun-hoody\/61255.html\">Capilene Cool Daily Sun Hoody<\/a> worked great for him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/us.reima.com\/collections\/toddler-sun-hats\/products\/kids-sunhat-octopus\">Reima Hats<\/a> \u2014 Jordan said it all in the video. These are great.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mustangsurvival.com\/products\/khimera-dual-flotation-pfd-md7183\">Mustang Survival Dual Floatation Khimera Adult PFD<\/a> \u2014 Jordan was pretty happy with this vest and liked the roo pocket in the front. It has eight pounds of flotation from the foam and a CO2 cartridge and pull tab to bump the vest to 20 pounds of buoyancy when extra flotation is needed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeproof.com\/en-us\/shop-cases\">Lifeproof Fre Waterproof Phone Case<\/a> \u2014 Best case for life on or near water and dusty, sandy, gritty places.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hangtimegear.com\/\">Koala Hangtime Phone Leash<\/a> \u2014 Fits most phones, extendable leash, death-grip clip.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan\u2019s Kit \u2014 Mountain Hardwear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mountainhardwear.com\/p\/womens-crater-lake-ls-hoody-1829681.html\">Women\u2019s Crater Lake LS Hoodie<\/a> and Mountain Hardwear <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mountainhardwear.com\/p\/womens-chockstone-pull-on-pant-1851981.html\">Chockstone Pull On Pants<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chacos.com\/US\/en\/z1-sandals\/\">Chaco Z1 Sandals<\/a> \u2014 A must for any river trip.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yeti.com\/en_US\/hard-coolers\/roadie-24-hard-cooler\/YR24.html\">Yeti Roadie 24 Hardside Cooler <\/a>\u2014 This cooler has proven to be very versatile in our adventure and casual around town lives.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hydroflask.com\/bottles\/kids\">Hydro Flask 12oz Kid\u2019s Widemouth Bottles<\/a> \u2014 Not mentioned, but seen in the video. These are the best kid\u2019s water bottles because of the spillproof design, insulated casing, interchangeable lits with all of Hydro Flask\u2019s wide mouth bottles, and the hard plastic spout to prevent the kids from gnawing it appart.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.riverrunnerstransport.com\/\">River Runner Transportation &amp; Raft Rentals<\/a> \u2014 Full accolades at the end of both videos. These guys are great. Based out of Vernal, Utah. Go get your boat or hire them to drop it off or pick it up.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrs.com\/product\/1095\/nrs-e-160-self-bailing-raft\">NRS E-160 Self-Bailing Raft<\/a> \u2014 Great boat.
