Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) and<\/span>\u00a0Russell Brewing Co. have announced g<\/span>reat news for the future of BC brewing education and #BCCraftBeer.<\/p>\n $7000 has been donated by Russell Brewing to the John Mitchell Legacy Endowed Scholarship at <\/span>KPU, open to students in their Brewing & Brewery Operations Diploma program. The funds were raised from the sales of John Mitchell Signature Cascadian Dark Ale,<\/em> originally launched on July 6th<\/a> in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Canadian craft beer. The contribution should boost overall Scholarship donations past the $20,000 mark and help secure its Legacy Endowment status<\/span>, which has been a goal held by the Scholarship\u2019s caretakers.<\/span><\/p>\n The donation was made official during a cheque presentation this past Friday November 4th at the Brew Lab in KPU\u2019s Langley campus. What\u2019s Brewing<\/em> was on hand to record the very inspirational and successful occasion, captured in these videos and photographs.<\/p>\n Previously, significant scholarship donations were made by Spinnakers Brew Pub<\/strong><\/a> and Central City Brewers & Distillers<\/strong>. This current Legacy fund follows an original one-time KPU scholarship in Mitchell\u2019s name created in 2017<\/a> courtesy of Trading Post Brewing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n At this point, the public may still experience John Mitchell Signature Cascadian Dark Ale <\/em>on tap at Russell Brewing\u2019s Surrey tasting room. The brew is considered to be outstanding, with Beer Me BC giving it a score of 4.4 out of 5<\/a>.<\/p>\n Also, fans and supporters of John Mitchell and the Scholarship may now purchase a commemorative John Mitchell 40th Anniversary t-shirt through Russell Brewing.
