The newly formed <strong>U.S.-<span class=\"xn-location\">Japan<\/span> Commission on Innovation and Competitiveness\u00a0<\/strong>will develop bilateral science and <a href=\"https:\/\/investableuniverse.com\/2021\/12\/02\/digital-edge-stonepeak-infrastructure-data-center-platform-ctc-japan\/\">technology<\/a> business partnerships based on principles of competitiveness, resilience, invention, innovation, sustainability, inclusivity and shared democratic values.<\/p>\n<p>The new initiative builds on the success of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/05\/23\/fact-sheet-the-u-s-japan-competitiveness-and-resilience-core-partnership\/\"><strong>U.S.-Japan Competitiveness and Resilience Partnership (CoRe) <\/strong><\/a>, an initiative launched last year to promote industry-led <a href=\"https:\/\/investableuniverse.com\/2020\/09\/16\/open-ran-5g-rakuten-telefonica\/\"><strong>Open RAN<\/strong> <strong>(5G)<\/strong> <\/a>development, <a href=\"https:\/\/investableuniverse.com\/2020\/11\/17\/5g-us-japan-security-relationship\/\">digital connectivity<\/a>, supply chain resilience, cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection, and other focus areas in support of shared prosperity and a <strong>rules-based economic order in the Indo-Pacific region<\/strong> <strong>and worldwide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The new Commission will promote the objectives of the CoRe Partnership and to advance joint research and development and collaborative innovation initiatives, as well as new business models, across the two nations\u2019 advanced science and technology ecosystems. CoRe is providing the framework for U.S. and Japanese collaboration, uniting the world\u2019s two largest democratic economies as they work toward generating greater prosperity in their own nations and around the world. U.S. <strong>President Joe Biden<\/strong> and Japan\u2019s Prime Minister <strong>Fumio Kishida<\/strong> both confirmed their commitment to the CoRe partnership during a recent summit in <span class=\"xn-location\">Tokyo<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"xn-person\">Deborah Wince-Smith<\/span><\/strong>, President &amp; CEO of the Council, and\u00a0<strong><span class=\"xn-person\">Hiro Nishiguchi<\/span>,<\/strong> Chief Executive Officer of the JIN, submitted letters to President Biden and Prime Minister Kishida commending the Administrations\u2019 commitment to the CoRe Partnership based upon multiple discussions among the <strong>Cabinet Office of\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Japan<\/span><\/strong>, the <strong>Council<\/strong> and <strong>JIN<\/strong>, and expressing their intention \u201cto engaging with [the] Administrations to fulfill this ambitious agenda that is so important to our nations\u2019 global competitiveness, and economic and national prosperity and security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Council on Competitiveness, having long defined and shaped a private sector innovation agenda in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">the United States<\/span> \u2013 from the local, to the regional, to the national levels \u2013 is honored to join with the Japan Innovation Network in launching this distinctive, joint commission. Our Council members, spanning a broad cross section of our economy, are poised to contribute our experience and capabilities, and we will exercise leadership in the private sector to advance the CoRe agenda,\u201d the Council\u2019s <span class=\"xn-person\">Wince-Smith said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cJapan Innovation Network was established in 2013 based on a research project of the <strong>Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)<\/strong> to transform\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Japan<\/span> into an Innovation Nation. As such, JIN has been proactively promoting and bringing forth the concept of the Innovation Management System and achieving Sustainable Development Goals through innovation-based activities among Japanese organizations.
