Enterocolitis is a common, potentially deadly complication of Hirschsprung disease (HSCR), a congenital anomaly defined by absence of enteric neurons from distal bowel. Unexpectedly, we discovered diet dramatically affects lifespan of a HSCR mouse model (Piebald lethal, sl/sl).
