Sheikh Mohammed shares heartfelt tribute to his late brother Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid
“You are absent from our eyes but not from our prayers and hearts”
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has shared a heartfelt tribute to his brother, Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has passed away aged 76.
In a thoughtful statement shared on X, Sheikh Mohammed wrote:
“May God have mercy on Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum… May God have mercy on you, my brother… You have settled with a Generous and Great Lord… You are absent from our eyes but not from our prayers and hearts, O Ahmed.
“May God make you dwell in the vast expanses of His Paradise… and inspire us and your loved ones with patience and solace… And to God we belong, and to Him we shall return.”

Dubai Media Office confirmed that Dubai would enter 10 days of mourning from Monday, September 21, with flags flying at half-mast.
Leaders across the UAE took to social media on Monday to pay tribute to Sheikh Ahmed, who served as the Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and was also Group Chairman of A.R.M Holding, a UAE-based private investment firm, per Gulf Business.
UAE President HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan took to X to extend his sincere condolences to Sheikh Mohammed on the passing of his brother, saying “[his] longstanding contributions to the development of the UAE since its founding continue to inspire our nation’s journey of progress.”
“May God rest his soul in eternal peace and mercy and grant his loved ones comfort during this difficult time,” he concluded the post.
In his own tribute to the late Sheikh Ahmed on X, HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE said, “We bid him farewell with hearts faithful in God’s decree and destiny, and Sheikh Ahmed will remain in hearts, memory, and prayers.”
