Honor Magic 9 will continue to use dual 3D biometric features
Honor Magic 9 series will not only impress with its camera technologies or design upgrades but also with its “dual 3D biometric” features. It is going to be the first flagship smartphone lineup in the industry to debut with two 3D security capabilities.
The company has dropped another teaser image, in which it confirmed that the Honor Magic 9 series will bring dual 3D biometric recognition features.
3D biometric recognition refers to a high-security authentication system in smartphones that combines true 3D facial recognition + advanced fingerprint scanner.
Notably, the Magic 9 series will continue the legacy of its predecessors and offer a 3D ToF Face Recognition feature and a 3D Ultrasonic Fingerprint sensor.
A three-dimensional face recognition setup includes specialized infrared hardware and software to map the unique depth and contours of the face for secure unlocking. It uses ToF (Time of Flight) sensors to measure facial details precisely.
On the other hand, 3D ultrasonic fingerprint uses ultrasonic waves to scan a user’s finger and generate a detailed 3D map of finger ridges, valleys, and pores.
Thus, it creates a highly secure and accurate lock shield for the device. At the same time, it can effectively work even when the finger is dirty or wet.

Magic 8 smartphones already support this 3D security technology, but the company has enhanced it further with the upcoming flagship. Giving some hints, Honor said:
“Taking security a step further, the #HonorMagic9# series brings the industry’s exclusive dual 3D biometric recognition. 3D ultrasonic fingerprint recognition and 3D face recognition, dual 3D unlocking, combining security and convenience in one step.”
