I took several different angles of this scene with my iPhone 7+ last June. I processed one I took with the actual zoom in Snapseed and posted it a few months ago.
I processed this wider view in lightroom and photoshop experimenting with various textures.
I used a very effective and easy way to place birds in a sky. If you are careful, you may not even have to select the birds.
In photoshop place the photo of the birds in a layer above your scene. Create a mask for the bird layer. Invert the mask which will turn it black and reveal the scene below.
Lower the density of the mask just enough to reveal the flying birds. Hit command T (transform) on the bird layer (make sure it is a smart object). Hold down the shift key to shrink it to size while retaining the proportions. Move the sized image into the desired position in the scene. Click the check to set the transformed image.
Now take a the brush tool at maybe 50% hardness and 10% opacity. Use the color white to paint on the mask. Click on the birds until they can be located when you return the density to 100%.
Make sure you zoom in really close to the birds and keep clicking on them at 10% to make them more visible. As much as possible stay with in the birds’ outlines. If you can zoom in really close, you might click within the birds at 20% but keep the opacity low and keep clicking.
This will give the birds the softness that is created by distance. It may sound a little complicated but doing it is easy.
